What a labor of love! I could watch for meteors all night beside the Fiertzeside (in a comfy chair!). Russell Smith's latest New Now manifesto and your fireside together are enough to make a person drop everything and go into a long swoon. Hello, neighbors around the Fier!
Reclining comfy chairs, yup!! I'm with you. It was a slow process for sure, but great for getting to know people. Subscriptions start so anonymously. I get a newsletter and sometimes think, which one is this again and why did I subscribe? I'm still going through that stage of trying put a face and name to a Substack. Connecting really helps.
It is good seeing who and what people are doing here, it's such a wonderful resource. I think it was Elle Griffin who formed her own version of the 'literary salon', but I think Hamish et al managed that with the platform itself.
I started it for myself really to reduce the feeling of anonymity and get to know everybody and why they like to sit by the fier. Comments of course help with that, but some of the most engaged readers don't comment, and I could see the whole enterprise of a friendly gathering (warm hearth - I like that) running away from me. I look forward to reading more of your memoir.
Unlike the other posts, so as not to overwhelm inboxes, I didn't publish to email. I will update about twice a month, and when a new community round up or additions occur, I'll do a link in the 'embers' of the regular posts. It's good to have you here, Lorraine, and thank you for your contributions to furthering the conversation - greatly appreciated.
I completely agree. Other people's lives are so interesting and how they put their experience and knowledge onto paper here in Substack is quite extraordinary.
Safar, this collection is a treasure! I just came across it from your mention on @Beth Kempton’s Note. You’ve compiled and curated a veritable library! Thank you. And thank you for including Beyond the Comfort Zone.
Good to have you here, Simon. I'm looking forward to your repeat slow read of War & Peace. I think I discovered you on Instagram about half-way in.
I began the introductions section as a response to thinking about, well, I want to build a community of people who are interested in positive steps for the future, but how do you go about that with complete strangers. It's a good way to get to know your readers and keep track as you grow, and I recommend it for that, but do wonder how it can be managed if you have thousands following like some people do on this platform.
It's a joy discovering you all. Thank you for joining us here. Welcome!
Welcome, Chapin!
Safar, I'm honored to be in this list of Substack writers, artists, creators.
It's quite the gathering, isn't it! Very special 🙂
Thank you Safar for including me in your list, very honored!!
It's good to have you here! I appreciate your restacks too 🤝

Safar, many thanks for including me in this distinguished group. Now I have some new Substacks to explore!

How wonderful to be included in this list of writers 🙏🏽 Some familiar names here, and also some new work for me to explore. Thank you.
Good to have you here, Zenobia. I wouldn't have found your stack without you dropping by, I look forward to reading more.
Safar, thank you for including me in your introductions! What a great way to create a warm hearth for all your readers. So happy to be here.

Honored to be mentioned, Safar. I'm glad you enjoyed my writing!
I'm a bit of a jack of all trades, but sometimes there's a subject which remains behind a veil of mystery to me. You help to clear the veil :)
Thank you so much for compiling this list, Safar! Found some exceptional follows in your compilation. And so good to meet everyone!
So glad you got something out of it, Leona.

I think Beth was one who also discovered it at a later date. I'm happy it keeps surprising!
Just discovering your stack Safar, but I love this idea!
