Thank you for this inspiring article. It is hard for the younger generation to have hope when there is evidence of so much climate change. But my 18 year old daughter finds hope in your articles, and also a lesson in carrying on despite opposition.

That is so heart-warming to hear. Thank you so much for saying so. Your daughter's hope is exactly what I am trying to achieve. Yesterday, I posted a link on Notes to an interview with a climate crisis scientist who said that most people don't know how bad it is, but also how much hope there is out there. Share, share and share again! The negative emphasis is disempowering.

Thank you again, Kate. You've just helped me make up my mind about something I've been going back and forth about regarding the newsletter. In fact, you'll learn all about it next week!

I look forward to reading it!

Not going to lie, I read this as 'The Man that Stopped the Dessert' and I was genuinely ready to argue that dessert should never be excluded from ones life. Then I realised that I am overtired and you have an incredible article about an innovative way to farm during droughts. Very interesting read and it's wonderful to know that one person's mad ideas can be a solution for a whole community.

Hi Kim, that was very Freudian!! And I agree, they never should be excluded from one's life, but we could do without more deserts! Thank you for your kind words, but really the stories are telling themselves. It's been fun to dive a bit deeper though, to really assess the impact of one person's small step.

Reminds me of articles I have seen recently of one person planting a huge amounts of trees to recover the lost nature near their home or using tons of orange peel to nurture burnt soil.

Hi Kim, that's super! Would you consider sharing the links to the Chat area? I set it up so subscribers can start their own threads. I'd love to see a thread where you all share these kinds of positive news stories as you come across them. You'll find the Chat tab at the top of The Fiertzeside web page. If you're busy, don't worry about it!

P.S. The series after food will be trees!

It's a good space to be in. If only others knew how much they would gain from even a small step beyond!

And ditto, I am really enjoying the vicarious experience of your pilgrimage. I rue I joined it so late.

So true "If only others knew. . ."

And I love the word "rue."

(I did not mean to rhyme!)

Haha! It is a great word, but not to be overused me thinks :)
